IRC's Newcomer Youth Summer Academy 

"The Remote Theater Project provided workshops with theater exercises designed to break down students' inhibitions and allow students to express themselves using non-verbal communication: movement, behavior, and emotions. Alexandra and her interns were always prepared and ready to facilitate workshops; they were responsive to communication and were professional when interacting with students. Students were very receptive and loved the program. Since students in the program did not feel comfortable speaking English, the fact that they were expressing themselves using non-verbal communication helped them with their self-esteem since they felt they accomplished the tableaus and other exercises and felt proud of themselves. The cultural lead teacher mentioned that participating in the program had helped students with their communication skills. The teachers were fun and engaged all students in the workshop. The students felt comfortable working with the RTP Team."
